Sandstone bricks are a very common building material and can be used in many different ways. They are particularly popular for paving, sculptures, in the garden, for patio slabs and especially for facades and swimming pool surrounds. Sandstone is particularly popular as a building material for castles and churches. The famous "Brandenburg Gate", the "Berlin Cathedral" and the Capistran Chancel on the outside of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna were also built from sandstone.

Wall stones can come in many different colors, as the color depends on the sand. In most cases, the warm yellow is reflected in the stone. So a Individual, elegant design indoors, in the garden or on the terrace is child's play.

Sandstone bricks - frost-proof YES or NO?

Sandstone can be used both indoors and outdoors. As this is a natural stone that is riddled with small cracks and pores, choosing the right sandstone is very fundamental. Depending on whether the stone is used indoors or outdoors, there are different degrees of frost resistance.

To avoid frost damage, the substrate is also very relevant for laying. The substrate should be water-permeable (e.g. gravel) and have a slight gradient.

Sandstone bricks for outdoor use

When using natural stone slabs made of sandstone outdoors, it is essential to pay attention to the right type of sandstone. As a rule, the higher the quartz content in the stone, the more resistant and frost-proof it is.

Thanks to its coarse-grained surface and non-slip properties, sandstone is ideal for swimming pool surrounds, patio slabs and garden paths. The special play of colors of grey, yellow, red and green is reminiscent of the Mediterranean climate.

The stone is also perfect for walls.
